As we act for well over 1000 clients here at Jones Harris, over more than 40 years of trading we have built up considerable knowledge and expertise in a number of specialist areas, especially as we have a policy of continuing professional development for all staff.
Since we are based in Fleetwood, only a few miles from the number one UK seaside town which is Blackpool, and operate along the whole of the Fylde Coast, you won’t be surprised to learn that one of our areas of expertise is in the Tourism and Hospitality industry.
We act for accommodation providers (of all types, from small bed and breakfasts through to large family owned and operated chains), pubs & restaurants, caravan parks, amusement arcades, garden centres and more – in fact most of the very many different types of businesses which operate within the tourism and hospitality sector, plus the varied types of business which support the trade, and as such are impacted by the same fluctuations in seasonality, rules and regulations etc, and require the same area of knowledge.
Registered and Controlled by the ICAEW
As a practice, Jones Harris is registered and controlled by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and has recently joined the ICAEW Tourism and Hospitality Group, in order to stay right up to date with the latest news and developments in the sector.
Many industries change at a rapid pace, but with frequent changes in legislation on at least an annual basis with each budget, it’s important for accountants to keep up to speed in order to provide clients with the best advice.
Membership of the ICAEW Tourism and Hospitality Group will give Jones Harris access to an additional depth of current, sector specific detailed knowledge and information – not just about what is happening right now, but what might or will be happening in the future. It will also provide access to an expert panel which will be able to provide guidance in relation to your Tourism and Hospitality centred technical enquiries.
ATOL Reporting Accountant
For any independent travel agents, it’s also worth noting that Director Martin Wigley is also an ATOL Reporting Accountant (ARA), who is authorised to sign off Annual Accountants Reports (AAR) prior to ATOL renewal.
The requirement to have accounts signed off in this way was brought in last year and ATOL made it quite clear that they will not accept old style reports or anything other than the new Annual Accountants’ Report, in order for you to meet the terms of your license.
So if you’re a Fylde Coast independent travel agent you don’t need to worry about where you’re going to find an ATOL Registered Accountant, because there’s one right here on your doorstep.
If you own or manage a travel and tourism business and your current accountant just doesn’t understand your sector, please get in touch for a no-obligation chat about how we can help, and the many ways in which Jones Harris could support your business.
