There’s further funding announced for businesses after The Chancellor Rishi Sunak set out the Budget on 3 March 2021.
As part of a range of measures to support businesses, the furlough scheme and support for the self-employed will be extended until the end of September. Access to grants has also been widened for the self-employed, meaning more people will now be eligible.
Details on Further Funding Announced for Businesses
The Government also announced it will provide ‘Restart Grants’ of up to £6,000 per premises for non-essential retail businesses and up to £18,000 per premises for hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses, as well as additional discretionary business grant funding.
Councillor Alan Vincent is Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Resources at Wyre Council. He said “We welcome the announcement of further grant funding for businesses hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic. We understand that local authorities will be responsible for distributing the Restart Grants and that we will receive the funding in April. We are awaiting further guidance, and as soon as we receive it, we will work hard to deliver the funding to our local businesses at pace, as we have done right throughout the pandemic.
“So far Wyre Council has made grant payments totalling over £38 million to businesses in the borough. Staff have worked hard to process many different business support grant schemes delegated to local authorities including the various Local Government Restrictions Support Grant schemes, the Additional Restrictions Grants, Closed Business Lockdown Grants and the Christmas Support Package to name a few. I’d like to thank all the staff involved and I know they will work quickly to make the new Restart Grant payments as soon as guidance and the funding is received.“
